Our Ministries
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The second Tuesday of each month the Senior Citizens from the
community gather to share a meal and fellowship. A program of
interest is scheduled each month. Please bring a covered dish. The
main course and drinks are provided.
Second Tuesday of each month 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M.
No meetings in the months of Jan-March.
COMPASSION & MERCY
Throughout the year, our local church collects donations of food and
clothing to be given to the Interfaith Council of Floyd County. These
are then distributed through an application system to those in need.
At Christmas we participate in the Operation Santa Claus which the
Council sponsors, in the fall we contribute to Clothe A Child and
November is our month to stock the food pantry. We ring the donation
bell for Salvation Army during December. In the summer we collect
money for the community-wide WHAS Crusade for Children. We
participate in the local Habitat for Humanity efforts.
We also participate in the "WEEK OF COMPASSION". This is a
special project of the Disciples of Christ churches, where monetary
donations are used for those who have experienced traumas due to
disasters. In the event of hurricanes, floods, droughts, famines, tragic
accidents or acts of terrorism, Week of Compassion is there to
respond with Christian care and support.
Bible Studies and Small Groups
Over the course of the calendar year Pastor Doug leads several Bible
Studies. Some of these studies have been very in depth looks at
different books of the Bible, such as Galatians, 1 Peter, and
Revelation. Pastor Doug also leads seasonal studies during Lent
and Advent.
We also offer several small group studies lead in family homes. For
example several small groups have been studying the book Purpose
Driven Life by Rick Warren.
Other small group ministries that are available range from a drama
group, which has performed major plays to simple skits for worship.
There is an active Mens group and group of dedicated members who
come together each month for card playing and fun times called the
Able Class. All of these small groups are open to all and we are
always looking for new groups to start to carry the ministry of Jesus to
all we meet.
